I finally did it!

I discovered how to change my settings as a follower to make myself visible on other people's blog pages. I had originally selected 'follow privately' without realising that this would affect my status on the pages that I chose to follow and have 'see me'. You just need to sign in on the link next to 'follow' on anyone's blog to alter the settings (e.g. following publically or privately, your picture, etc). Hope that helps anyone who's having trouble with being a follower.
